Customer Service & You

A programme of support designed to prepare candidates to progress into vacancies within the health and care sector. This bespoke training programme is a partnership between Learning Partnerships, Leeds City College and the Leeds Health & Care Talent Hub. Learners will attend sessions to improve their employability with a focus around skills and qualities, interview skills for roles in health or care with the NHS and its partners. Learners must be able to demonstrate basic computer skills, be open to roles within admin and customer service and have a commitment to completing the programme to ensure positive progression opportunities.

Throughout the programme candidates will be supported to achieve an accredited qualification, Level 1 BTEC in Principles in Customer Service offered through the college. There will be visits from different organisations who will also talk to learners about the different roles within the primary care setting. There will be joint working with visits from the Careers advice service, Hospital Teaching trust, and an appointment with a makeover team who will be helping learners with interview clothes and confidence building. Wider skills development will include Communication – active listening skills; understanding diversity, digital skills, English, mock interviews, how to deal with challenging behaviour, emotional intelligence to be able to handle delicate and situations that quickly escalate and develop participants to be sympathetic and compassionate manner with a calm disposition. Learners will also be expected to work independently and within a team to complete tasks using initiative and within a time framework

• Learners will have the opportunity progress to an interview once roles become available leading into employment and will be able to utilise their transferable knowledge skills gained from this course in their personal and working lives.
